BCU21 15082018

This message is put out at the request of our corporate communications department following a spate of vulnerable victim frauds. There are a number of `stories’ that are used, one describes being from the NCA investigating the bank, others refer to errors on computers etc.

Scammers are quick-witted and their stories are very convincing. We urge you to read this advice from @GetSafeOnline and start a conversation with older relatives, neighbours and friends to make sure they are confident to say no to #TelephoneScams https://www.getsafeonline.org/protecting-yourself/telephone-banking-fraud/?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=SocialSignIn

Entrance to field at Marchant Holliday School

As mentioned in a previous Blog, work on the field entrance/stile at the corner of Hardings Lane will commence on Thursday of this week.

If you would be interested to know more about what is planned, you are welcome to come along and meet Danny the Headmaster at 9.30am on Wednesday morning (15 August) at the entrance to the field.  He will be more than happy to explain the alterations that they intend to undertake.

Also, if anyone in the community would like to visit the school, he would  be pleased to show them around the site and explain a little about the work they do.  This would preferably be before the start of term, probably in the week beginning 27 August but a definite date will be announced soon.

The school has an excellent website  – www.marchant-holliday.co.uk – take a look !

Hope to see you on Wednesday morning !

Disruption to field entrance at Hardings Lane corner

This is just to advise you that the Marchant Holliday School are shortly to have a new additional temporary (Portakabin-type) classroom installed.

As the lorry which will deliver them is very large, it will mean that the gateway entrance to the field on the corner of Hardings Lane will have to be widened.  The stone stile will be dismantled and tree branches cut back. However, once the works have been completed everything will be restored to its former glory!

Please be aware that there will also be additional lorry traffic on that corner over the next few weeks.

Church Cleaning helpers needed

In order that our village Church is kept looking clean and tidy,  we are looking to put together a team of volunteers who can help dust, sweep the floor and tidy up on a regular basis.  If you feel you can help, please let us know.  It is not an onerous job and would just entail a visit to the church to check all is looking good with a quick sweep and dust if needed – the more volunteers we get, the easier it will be and hopefully each person would only have to help once every month or so.

Please contact Sue Fitzmaurice, Churchwarden  01963 824582/email SFitzm@aol.com if you feel you would like to help.

Thank you.
