Christmas Cooks

Good morning Everyone

We are looking for TWO more volunteers to make a pudding for the Xmas Supper on the 16th Dec if you can help please let me know.  Also if you haven’t booked already we only have 6 places left so don’t miss out on this super event.

North Cheriton Posada

Mary, Joseph and Donkey will be travelling around the village during Advent and will need a place to stay each night before arriving in church on Christmas Eve. (Don’t panic! – they are knitted and come in a shoe box stable! )

If you could offer the trio a comfortable windowsill for a night – perhaps where passers-by might see them – then please let Belinda know before 26th November as their route needs careful planning.

Contact Belinda at if you would like to take part and please say if there is a night that you would NOT be able to do. Your guests will arrive by 4pm on ‘your’ day and you are asked to pass them on to their next hosts by 4pm the next day (usually a neighbour or someone nearby!)

Firearms Surrender campaign

From 13-26 November, the police are holding a firearms and ammunition surrender campaign. This gives people the opportunity to dispose of these items in a safe place and those surrendering items will not face prosecution.

In Somerset the items can be surrendered at the following stations:

• Bridgwater Police Centre: open 8am – 8pm everyday

• Yeovil: open 8am – 8pm everyday

If you are unable to attend a police station please telephone the police on 101 to discuss alternative arrangements.

There will also be an opportunity to surrender bladed weapons at these stations during this time.

Good News!

Yes, good news. Always welcome.

The quirky and historical village stocks have now been restored to their former glory as the carpenter has fashioned a new canopy in sturdy timber – oak, I believe – to help preserve them for generations to come.

If you have not already noticed this improvement then please do go and have a look. Take time on a nice autumn day to admire the scene and maybe ponder on who you would like to see sitting there!
