To celebrate the completion of our newly fitted kitchen, the Village Hall Committee hosted a very successful Spanish themed supper on Saturday night.
There was excellent support from our residents with nearly sixty people enjoying an authentic Spanish three course meal accompanied by traditional Iberian music.
The evening kicked off with plenty of complimentary Sangria.
Ron Perry cooked a magnificent Paella in the main hall for everyone to see, which was a unique experience.
The new kitchen was put to good use to prepare and cook the majority of the food in house for the very first time.
The Hall looked lovely decorated with red and yellow streamers and balloons – even the table menus incorporated the national flag!
Candlelight made for a cosy atmosphere and the last person left after midnight – the sign of a fantastic evening!
FREE to good home!
I am digging up 1 and 2 year old “Hellebore” plants. 2 year olds should flower next year. The colours are unpredictable, will be pinks/reds/yellow/white – depends what the bees have done! Parents can be seen..
Members of the North Cheriton & District WI invite you to a talk
“ALL ABOUT OSTEOPOROSIS – Could YOU be at Risk?”
on Thursday 16th April at 8.00 pm
by Lyn Parker of the Yeovil & District Support Group of the National Osteoporosis Society
£1.50 a head
Around 3 million people in the UK are affected by Osteoporosis and an ageing population means this number will soar in the years ahead. Almost one in two women and one in five men over the age of 50 will break a bone, mainly due to poor bone health. Yet there is widespread ignorance among the general public and even surprising lack of awareness among some health professionals about this debilitating and painful disease.
In her presentation, Lyn Parker (who is also a member of West & Middle Chinnock WI) will discuss the symptoms, describe preventative measures that everyone can take and will describe the information and support available to patients, health professionals and the general public from the Somerset-based National Osteoporosis Society. She will also outline some treatments although (as a non-medically trained person) she is naturally not able to go into these in any detail.
As this is such an important subject, the WI is opening the meeting to members’ friends and other North Cheriton residents. The entry charge of £1.50 covers light refreshments and there will be a collection box for the work of the Yeovil & District Support Group of the Osteoporosis Society.
Please telephone Veronica Goodenough on 01963 33255 or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday 15th April
if you would like to come (so we can arrange chairs, refreshments and handouts).
