Craft Fayre Stallholders Sought

We are holding our annual Christmas Gift & Craft Fayre at North Cheriton Village Hall, on Saturday 9th November, 10am – 2pm, and are now looking for local artists and craftspeople who would like to have a table (or half a table) at this event.

The cost for exhibiting is £5 plus we do hope that you will be able to provide a prize for our raffle.  Entrance fee for the general public is just £1.

We welcome all enquiries, so for more information or to book a table, please contact Nicky Haggett on 01963 31057 or email nicky@nicholajane.f2s.com

Hall Closure

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who gave up part of their weekend to help paint the new ceiling panels in readiness for installation this week (see photo below).  A fantastic effort resulted in the completion of the painting in double-quick time and means that disruption should be kept to a minimum.  Unfortunately, however, we have made the decision, over health and safety issues, to close the hall until Monday 30th September while these works are undertaken.

The Village Hall Committee apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Somerset Art Weeks

Somerset Art Weeks commenced on Saturday 21st September and runs until Sunday 6th October.

Venue 76 (on the SAW website) is the studio and home in Charlton Horethorne of Pippa Hill, ceramicist, well known for her animal sculptures, who is exhibiting alongside a mixed group of artists/makers. Included is an exhibition of students’ work with Bathroom being the theme!  I think the starting point for this pottery is humour!  Having been a student of Pippa’s pottery sessions for many years and knowing the work produced, I think there will be something to amuse and interest everyone professional and amateur.  Enjoy.

Village Hall Renovations

The North Cheriton Village Hall Committee is pleased to announce that it has embarked upon the first stage of renovations for the Hall.  This stage sees the removal of the false ceiling, insulation of the pine clad roof and repainting of the main area in attractive, heritage colours.

All this work will be finished quite soon and we are planning a Gala Opening – date to be announced soon so WATCH THIS SPACE!

We will then have further work carried out which will be approached in stages so as to keep disruption to users to a minimum.  We have plans for a new kitchen and a bar plus the creation of a new meeting room that will be ideal for smaller groups.

All this work, of course, comes at a cost and we will be holding plenty of fundraising events for you to attend and enjoy, starting this autumn.  We hope, with your support and maybe the odd grant or two, to be able to give our village the Hall it deserves.
